Possible Ways to Reset BIOS Password

There can be situations which will not allow you to get the access to your computer for any wrong reasons. Most of the times would have been the situations where you have forgotten the password. Every single individual would like to set a BIOS password to protect their computer from unauthorized usage. The Basic Input Output System will ensure the proper and synchronized usage of all the hardware and CPU parts. An employee who is quitting the office might reset the new BIOS password to take revenge on the management. This process of reversing the password is a time consuming task for the novice users. The entire process is very much dependent on the manufacturer of the motherboard and the model of it. However, it is not a daunting task to reverse the password.

For A Desktop Computer:

• First ensure that the power is turned off and the wires are unplugged in the switch box.
• Open up the case of your computer to get the mother board access.
• Find the CMOS battery which will round in shape and mostly silver metallic.
• Now remove this CMOS battery and use any tool to remove it. Keep it undisturbed for 700 seconds. This process will flush out the CMOS battery contents by which the old password will also be erased.
• Place the battery back in its position.
• On giving the power supply, the computer might give out a warning displaying that CMOS settings are not found. Try the re-configuration process or opt for the default settings.
• Now you can replace a new password according to your wish

For A Laptop:

• The process is very much complexed in the newer versions and models. If it has a security chip, then you have to contact the manufacturer to ask for the “master password”.
• If it is bootable by CD or Floppy, then create a Win98SE bootable media.
• You can also try any method to enter DOS prompt.
• When you get the A:\> prompt, then type “debug” and hit the enter button.
• The screen will display a “-“.
• Type o 70 2E (with spaces) and hit Enter
• Similarly type o 71 ff (with spaces) and hit enter button.
• Now type q and press the enter button.

• AMI BIOS:

• Some of the other common passwords used are BIOSSTAR, biosstar, ALFAROME,
The usage of these backdoor passwords is highly dependent on the manufacturer. The passwords are case sensitive. The BIOS will have a bumper like handle to identify it easily. Try locating it at the bottom. In the worst cases, your manufacturer can help you by resetting the password if you could prove that you are the owner of the system.
